Wherever our treasure is, then there our hearts also will be
Wordliness brings bondage; our liberty in Christ sets us free
Compromise is the fool’s path; Truth is the way of the wise
Sin confounds its victims; God’s Word opens spiritual eyes
Pride is the height of arrogance; humility is a lesson learned
Great is His grace; His salvation, a gift that no one can earn
He is our Sanctuary, though trials and troubles upon us come
He is Jesus, our Forever Love when our time on earth is done
Hebrews 13:5-6 (NASB)
5 for He Himself has said, “I WILL NEVER DESERT YOU, NOR WILL I EVER FORSAKE YOU,”
6 so that we confidently say, “THE LORD IS MY HELPER, I WILL NOT BE AFRAID. WHAT WILL MAN DO TO ME?”
Just as it was in the days of Noah
Is exactly how the world is today
God’s name is being blasphemed
As each person goes their own way
Jesus gave His life a ransom for sin
He came to save that which was lost
God’s mercy and grace to fallen man
God’s Son sacrificed upon the Cross
His salvation is a gift offered to all
For those who are willing to receive
A miracle is wrought within the heart
Faith given to understand and believe
Don’t leave this earth without the Savior
Regret will be your keepsake for eternity
You’ll live forever; either in Heaven or Hell
Question is, where will your destination be?
John 3:16-18 (NASB)
16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.
17 “For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.
18 “He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
Feast upon the Word of God; His endless banquet of Truth
Be a partaker of the spiritual nourishment He has supplied
Your soul will be refreshed and your mind will be renewed
Your hunger and thirst after righteousness will be satisfied
Delight yourself in Him; drink from the springs of salvation
Cast your cares upon Him; obey and follow His commands
Refrain from worry; He works all things out for your good
He is always in control; the whole world rests in His hands
Psalm 19:7-8 (NASB)
The law of the LORD is perfect, restoring the soul; The testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.
8 The precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.
It’s like living a bad nightmare
In a world where wrong is right
A world devoid of love and care
Darkness disguises itself as light
In a society where anything goes
Nothing makes any sense at all
A social gospel among its woes
Spiritual dominoes ready to fall
Salvation is found only in Jesus
Abiding peace we have in Him
For it’s by His grace we stand
His eternal joy we carry within
Romans 5:1-2 (NASB)
1 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
2 through whom also we have obtained our introduction by faith into this grace in which we stand; and we exult in hope of the glory of God.
About nine years ago, Jesus brought me back to Himself; He rescued this wayward lamb. This is my testimony to His grace, mercy, love, and faithfulness… I grew up attending a Methodist church; even at the age of four I wanted to talk to God, and knew I wasn’t good enough to get into heaven (despite my mom saying “Oh, you just need to be a good girl.”) I attended church at various points in my life; it was all ceremony and legalism to me, and I hated it. The church I spent most of my years at was non-denominational (with a Baptist bent). They taught the gospel, but what I didn’t realize then (but do now) is that I ‘tried’ to do everything on my own; they did emphasize the need to make a ‘decision’ for Christ. I must have prayed the sinner’s prayer hundreds of times, tears streaming, but then my life didn’t change, even though I tried to ‘live the Christian life’ on my own. I remember praying to Jesus that He “not forget nor give up” on me. For many years I ran from Him, seeking happiness in what this world had to offer, but finding only an aching emptiness and disillusionment. But Jesus is faithful, and He heard and answered my prayer. The turning point in my life came in October, 2008, when my hubby and I received a call that my hubby’s niece, Molly (16 yrs. old, she was a believer) had been killed instantly in an auto accident. Life became a blur as the family tried to deal with the shock and grief. Meanwhile, I was brought face to face with a question I’d been running from for years: Was I really saved? What if that had been me in that car? Voices tried to dissuade me from thinking about examining where I stood with God, to the tune of “too little, too late, He can’t save you now!” Well, I was tired of those ‘voices’, and decided to get before Him in prayer and have Him show me the Truth. I wasn’t content to rely on a ‘decision’ or ‘decisions’ made years earlier. My eyes were opened for the first time concerning what salvation really is; it is all of God, not of man. I couldn’t choose to live for Him because my will was ‘bound’. So I asked Jesus to make me willing, to forgive me, and to be my Lord, because I wanted Him in my life so badly, and knew I needed Him. He gave me the faith to believe, and I once was blind, but now I could see. My understanding coalesced in a big, big way when I was listening to a song by Petra, called “Thankful Heart”. These lyrics spoke to me powerfully: I have a thankful heart That you have given me And it can only come from You Finally, something unexpected happened shortly thereafter. I began writing poetry in praise to Him. Below is one of the first poems I penned, a love note/thank you letter all in one: “Miracle” You have brought joy to my heart And peace to my spirit You have created a miracle A heart, once cold and unyielding Has become warm and responsive to You You have shown grace and mercy To one who is so undeserving It is a mystery That cannot be explained in mere words But through the eyes of faith It is accepted and understood And the mind and heart Abide with You In the peaceful, settled rest That only You can give To a broken, repentant sinner You call Your own Now and forever.
