“The Cross of Calvary” (re-post)

“The Cross of Calvary”

You paid the price at the Cross of Calvary
You tasted death; set sin’s prisoners free
You raise to life those who trust in You
You give them hope as only You can do

You love them with a love that never dies
You hear their prayers and their hearts’ cries
You are present, even in their darkest hour
You strengthen them in Your mighty power

You promised that you would come back again
You have said none but the Father knows when
You will gather together all who are Your own
You will lead Your lambs to their eternal home

Romans 6:4 (NASB)
Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

I Peter 2:24 (NASB)
He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed.

Colossians 2:13-15 (NASB)
13 When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions,
14 having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.
15 When He had disarmed the rulers and authorities, He made a public display of them, having triumphed over them through Him.

“More To Our Existence”

“More To Our Existence”

There’s more to our existence
Than going through the motions
We get preoccupied with self
Carried adrift by our emotions

Life becomes very unstable
Thoughts turned inside out
Your Word quells the chaos
Banishes all fear and doubt

You’re the most glorified
When we’re satisfied in You
Trusting You wholly in heart
Firmly rooted in Your Truth

Sin for us holds no appeal
If Your statutes we obey
Nor will feelings rule us
If we follow You and pray

Psalms 19:11 (NASB)
The precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart;
The commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.
Psalms 16:11 (NASB)
You will make known to me the path of life;
In Your presence is fullness of joy;
In Your right hand there are pleasures forever.

“As It Was Meant To Be”

“As It Was Meant To Be”

This is our prayer to You for each day
To set our hearts upon eternal things
You are sovereign; You are in control
Of whatever tomorrow to us brings

This life is but a wisp; a mere vapor
Treasures stored up on earth will pass
Each breath and heartbeat is Your gift
Only works done for Your glory will last

A brilliantly wonderful future we have
Perfect, Heavenly harmony of life anew
Joy unspeakable; as it was meant to be
And forever we will be worshipping You

II Corinthians 4:18 (NASB)
while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.

“Center Of Your Will”

“Center of Your Will”

Flood my mind with Your Word
Let it revive my heart once more
Let my mouth speak only Truth
Let it be what I most hunger for

Your ways are the path to Life
Abundant, fulfilling, and whole
Purifying light; piercing within
Sanctifying; cleansing the soul

Fasten my thoughts upon You
That I would seek You each day
Draw me closer than ever before
In the center of Your will to stay

Psalms 25:10 (NASB)
All the paths of the LORD are lovingkindness and truth To those who keep His covenant and His testimonies.

Romans 8:6 (NASB)
For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace,

Hebrews 13:20-21 (NASB)
20 Now the God of peace, who brought up from the dead the great Shepherd of the sheep through the blood of the eternal covenant, even Jesus our Lord,
21 equip you in every good thing to do His will, working in us that which is pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen.

“Warning Signs”

“Warning Signs”

This world isn’t the same as it always has been
Glaring, prophetic warning signs are flashing
People remain oblivious; they laugh, they scoff
Until God’s judgment upon them comes crashing

Eternity isn’t a matter to be cavalierly dismissed
It carries consequences far too serious to ignore
The Bible states the road to destruction is wide
It offers only eternal regret and sorrow in store

There’s a road that’s narrow; at its end is Life
Those who take it expect times of trial and pain
Their Savior leads, guides, and comforts them
They know to live is Christ, and to die is gain

Matthew 7:13-14 (NASB)
13 “Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it.
14 “For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.

Psalms 2:10-12 (NASB)
10 Now therefore, O kings, show discernment; Take warning, O judges of the earth.
11 Worship the Lord with reverence And rejoice with trembling.
12 Do homage to the Son, that He not become angry, and you perish in the way, For His wrath may soon be kindled. How blessed are all who take refuge in Him!

“Thankful Thoughts”

It’s important to be thankful for what we have…this life is so very short. Purpose for living is not: get a good job, buy the right car, etc. Wrong. Many years are wasted in this kind of thinking. Do we want to be living for temporal things, or those which are eternal? For self-glory or God’s glory? Which one satisfies the hunger in our souls? If we are honest, no earthly thing ‘satisfies’ what is the desire of the soul: to know, to love and serve God, and to bring Him glory. The Father sent his Son to die for us, for our sins; to reconcile us to Himself, and Jesus continually intercedes for us before the Father as our Merciful High Priest. He loves us beyond measure, and He wants us to know His love, joy, and forgiveness. We have a blessed hope awaiting us, which is eternal life with Him. Would we rather have: His joy, or happiness which waxes and wanes depending upon our circumstances?

This writer chooses: Joy.

Soli Deo Gloria!

“Jesus, Heaven’s Bliss”

“Jesus, Heaven’s Bliss”

My life isn’t my own
Lord, it’s Yours alone
Time and years fly by
I’m looking to the sky

Thinking of my Home
While on earth I roam
Wanderer in this place
Saved by Your grace

Fish out of water here
Yet, You are very near
My heart calls to You
Testifies to your Truth

On my knees I’ll pray
Praise you for today
Joy in knowing this
Jesus, Heaven’s bliss

Revelation 22:20 (NASB)
He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming quickly.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.

“Heavenly Minded”

“Heavenly Minded”

If we’re heavenly minded
This makes us earthly good
Minds fixed on God above
Living for Him as we should

Earth is our temporary dwelling
This Truth we know for sure
What we do for self fades away
What we do for Him will endure

This earthly life may get us down
We press on through another day
Struggle to handle it on our own
Yet all we had to do was pray

Faulty human reason tells us
It’s our job to give Him a hand
Our faith in Him appears small
This is sin we must understand

He is sovereign over all things
Confidence in Him is a must
Believe what He says He’ll do
He’s always worthy of our trust

Colossians 3:1-4 (NASB)
1 Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.
2 Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth.
3 For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
4 When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.
