“As It Was Meant To Be”

“As It Was Meant To Be”

This is our prayer to You for each day
To set our hearts upon eternal things
You are sovereign; You are in control
Of whatever tomorrow to us brings

This life is but a wisp; a mere vapor
Treasures stored up on earth will pass
Each breath and heartbeat is Your gift
Only works done for Your glory will last

A brilliantly wonderful future we have
Perfect, Heavenly harmony of life anew
Joy unspeakable; as it was meant to be
And forever we will be worshipping You

II Corinthians 4:18 (NASB)
while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.

“How Beautiful It Will Be”

“How Beautiful It Will Be”

Moments tick by, and the anticipation grows
When Jesus will return, only the Father knows
God’s Children await the arrival of their King
Joy stirs within as praises to Him they bring

They read His Word and pray for those lost
Mindful that Jesus paid for them a heavy cost
How unfathomable are the riches of His grace
How beautiful it will be for them to see His face

Heaven’s joy will be for them to dwell with Him
To know as they are fully known; to be rid of sin
Hope they find not in this tent of flesh and bone
Only in their Savior; through Jesus Christ alone

Titus 2:13 (NASB) looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus

“Foretaste of Glory”

Watching and waiting; poised and ready
Many storms arise; God holds us steady
Mortal ills; confusion and chaos abound
He is our Delight; in Him our joy is found

Truth anchors us; a beaming beacon of light
Our hope for the day; our peace in the night
When we praise Him, our faith is expressed
Fears are quieted as the heart enters His rest

In study of His Word, the Spirit gives insight
Wisdom for living and for doing what is right
Fellowship is ours with the Father and His Son
Foretaste of glory; glimpse of eternity to come

1 John 1:1-4 (NASB)
1 What was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have looked at and touched with our hands, concerning the Word of Life—
2 and the life was manifested, and we have seen and testify and proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and was manifested to us—
3 what we have seen and heard we proclaim to you also, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ.
4 These things we write, so that our joy may be made complete.

“Joy That Will Not Fade”

“Joy That Will Not Fade”

The nearer God’s Children draw to Him
The more they will grow to hate their sin
His Pure Holiness; of this they are aware
His mercy toward them; His loving care
Through refining fire, their faith He tests
They are strongest when in He they rest
In light of His grace, their troubles dim
There is peace; a quiet assurance within
He is their Lord; He comes to their aid
He is their Hope; Joy that will not fade

Psalms 32:11 (NASB)
Be glad in the LORD and rejoice, you righteous ones;
And shout for joy, all you who are upright in heart.

“Jesus, Heaven’s Bliss”

“Jesus, Heaven’s Bliss”

My life isn’t my own
Lord, it’s Yours alone
Time and years fly by
I’m looking to the sky

Thinking of my Home
While on earth I roam
Wanderer in this place
Saved by Your grace

Fish out of water here
Yet, You are very near
My heart calls to You
Testifies to your Truth

On my knees I’ll pray
Praise you for today
Joy in knowing this
Jesus, Heaven’s bliss

Revelation 22:20 (NASB)
He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming quickly.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.

“Upon My Heart”

“Upon My Heart”

If I could go backward in time
This I wouldn’t choose to do
Despite tears over wasted years
Your grace led me back to You

My life would be worth nothing
If I had only myself and my pride
Knowing You is life’s greatest joy
Daily You renew me from the inside

Humbly I bow before You in prayer
Asking that You use me as You will
You replace my fears with Your peace
My soul’s troubled waters become still

More Holy Scripture I need each day
Engrave Your Word upon my heart
To persevere walking this narrow path
From the purity of Truth to never depart

John 3:30 (NASB)
He must increase, but I must decrease.

Psalm 139:23-24 (NASB)
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me and know my anxious thoughts;
24 And see if there be any hurtful way in me, And lead me in the everlasting way.

Luke 24:32 (NASB)
They said to one another, “Were not our hearts burning within us while He was speaking to us on the road, while He was explaining the Scriptures to us?”

“Joy Of His Salvation”

“Joy Of His Salvation”

May God pour out His blessings today
Joy of His salvation permeate your soul
Your mind would be at peace as you pray
For He has everything under His control

No better place to be than in His hands
Under the shadow of His mighty wings
Your joys and sorrows He understands
Comfort in His Word to you He brings

Talk to Him, but be sure to listen too
Be open to learn what He has to say
Draw closer to Him; He will to You
His Truth will always light your way

Psalms 3:8 (NASB)
Salvation belongs to the LORD; Your blessing be upon Your people! Selah.

Psalms 71:23 (NASB)
My lips will shout for joy when I sing praises to You; And my soul, which You have redeemed.

Nehemiah 8:10 (NASB)
the joy of the LORD is your strength.

“The Face of Christ”

“The Face of Christ”

Think not upon passing cares of this earth
For there is a pursuit far beyond all worth
Treasures to be sought within His Word
Truths to be read, thought upon, heard
Obey and appreciate His will and ways
Give to Him your thanks, worship, praise
Let His Word flood your mind and heart
His atoning blood cleanses sin’s dark spot
Though once you were blind, now you see
The Face of Christ, your joy for all eternity

II Corinthians 4:6 (NASB)
For God, who said, “Light shall shine out of darkness,” is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ

“God Is Calling”

“God Is Calling”

God is calling to the hearts of His children
Draw near to Me, and rest in My peace
Do not look around you, my dear ones
Lift your eyes to the heavens
Call out to Me from the depths of your souls
Let My truth sustain you, Trust Me
To hold you, lead you, and guide you
Until the day I come for you
Open your eyes, Joy awaits
With time no more
in eternity’s glad welcome

Isaiah 61:10 (NASB)
I will rejoice greatly in the LORD, My soul will exult in my God; For He has clothed me with garments of salvation, He has wrapped me with a robe of righteousness, As a bridegroom decks himself with a garland, And as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.

“Created To Worship You”

“Created To Worship You”

How I long for sin to finally depart
On that glorious day You appear
And I am changed through and through
Mortality shed, raised to immortality
Free me from false and foolish musings
Such dark, echoing, accusing threats
So that my mind dwells on You
Every thought is held captive to You
That my heart bursts forth with joy
In loving and humble obedience
Yours is the path to Life
I was created to worship You
To honor, adore, and praise Your name
Fill me, Lord, with Your eternal Truth
Set my hope on You, my Savior
By your sacrifice I am redeemed
Such a heavy price you paid for me
To live in Your righteousness
Increasing more in Your likeness
Is the cry of my heart
Forgive me, Lord
Cleanse me from inside out
I am Yours, Lord
You are my strength
I bow before You
My Redeemer, My Salvation
Eternally, I’ll be with You
And forever, You are my God

Romans 8:22-23 (NASB)
22 For we know that the whole creation groans and suffers the pains of childbirth together until now.
23 And not only this, but also we ourselves, having the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our body.

“By His Grace We Stand”

“By His Grace We Stand”

It’s like living a bad nightmare
In a world where wrong is right
A world devoid of love and care
Darkness disguises itself as light

In a society where anything goes
Nothing makes any sense at all
A social gospel among its woes
Spiritual dominoes ready to fall

Salvation is found only in Jesus
Abiding peace we have in Him
For it’s by His grace we stand
His eternal joy we carry within

Romans 5:1-2 (NASB)
1 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
2 through whom also we have obtained our introduction by faith into this grace in which we stand; and we exult in hope of the glory of God.

“True Christianity”

“True Christianity”

True Christianity is a personal relationship with Jesus Christ
To walk daily with Him in His Word through study and prayer
It’s all about fulfilling the purpose for which we were created
To glorify Him and to exalt Him; to trust in His love and care

We serve Him upon this earth; yet our hearts long for Heaven
Our Home, it’s where we belong; it’s where we’re meant to be
There’s no pain nor suffering, and sorrow bids its final farewell
Into an endless sea of joy as we worship our God for eternity

I Corinthians 8:6 (NASB)
yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom are all things and we exist for Him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we exist through Him.

Things of this world hold little appeal
They don’t ultimately satisfy the soul
All is empty, vain, and meaningless
Unless we believe God is in control

We can squander our time on earth
Move from one diversion to the next
Our happiness doesn’t last for long
We embark on another vacant quest

Life isn’t meant to be lived for self
To pursue every impulse felt within
Until God becomes our deepest desire
Do we realize what fools we’ve been

Cradle to grave, there are seasons
Looking back, may we clearly see
Wisdom is a life aimed at His glory
Purpose and joy in Him, living free

Psalms 90:12 (NASB)
So teach us to number our days, That we may present to You a heart of wisdom.

“My Testimony”

“My Testimony”

About nine years ago, Jesus brought me back to Himself; He rescued this wayward lamb. This is my testimony to His grace, mercy, love, and faithfulness… I grew up attending a Methodist church; even at the age of four I wanted to talk to God, and knew I wasn’t good enough to get into heaven (despite my mom saying “Oh, you just need to be a good girl.”) I attended church at various points in my life; it was all ceremony and legalism to me, and I hated it. The church I spent most of my years at was non-denominational (with a Baptist bent). They taught the gospel, but what I didn’t realize then (but do now) is that I ‘tried’ to do everything on my own; they did emphasize the need to make a ‘decision’ for Christ. I must have prayed the sinner’s prayer hundreds of times, tears streaming, but then my life didn’t change, even though I tried to ‘live the Christian life’ on my own. I remember praying to Jesus that He “not forget nor give up” on me. For many years I ran from Him, seeking happiness in what this world had to offer, but finding only an aching emptiness and disillusionment. But Jesus is faithful, and He heard and answered my prayer. The turning point in my life came in October, 2008, when my hubby and I received a call that my hubby’s niece, Molly (16 yrs. old, she was a believer) had been killed instantly in an auto accident. Life became a blur as the family tried to deal with the shock and grief. Meanwhile, I was brought face to face with a question I’d been running from for years: Was I really saved? What if that had been me in that car? Voices tried to dissuade me from thinking about examining where I stood with God, to the tune of “too little, too late, He can’t save you now!” Well, I was tired of those ‘voices’, and decided to get before Him in prayer and have Him show me the Truth. I wasn’t content to rely on a ‘decision’ or ‘decisions’ made years earlier. My eyes were opened for the first time concerning what salvation really is; it is all of God, not of man. I couldn’t choose to live for Him because my will was ‘bound’. So I asked Jesus to make me willing, to forgive me, and to be my Lord, because I wanted Him in my life so badly, and knew I needed Him. He gave me the faith to believe, and I once was blind, but now I could see. My understanding coalesced in a big, big way when I was listening to a song by Petra, called “Thankful Heart”. These lyrics spoke to me powerfully: I have a thankful heart That you have given me And it can only come from You Finally, something unexpected happened shortly thereafter. I began writing poetry in praise to Him. Below is one of the first poems I penned, a love note/thank you letter all in one: “Miracle” You have brought joy to my heart And peace to my spirit You have created a miracle A heart, once cold and unyielding Has become warm and responsive to You You have shown grace and mercy To one who is so undeserving It is a mystery That cannot be explained in mere words But through the eyes of faith It is accepted and understood And the mind and heart Abide with You In the peaceful, settled rest That only You can give To a broken, repentant sinner You call Your own Now and forever.
